Tents are available in a variety of dimensions and shapes. There are a variety of tents, ranging from small bivy bags that weigh just few ounces up to massive cabin tents that weigh 50 pounds or more. In the beginning, tents were constructed out of thick canvas, but these days they are constructed using a variety of different materials. Some tents perform better in heavy winds or bad weather than others, so the best choice may not be the most popular. Dome-TentDome tents are the most common design today. This tent can be distinguished from all others by the two poles that are flexible that cross the middle of the tent and are fixed to the corners. Dome tents are available in a range of different dimensions, and can accommodate from one person to eight persons. In double-wall designs, there is a breathable inner tent, usually made mostly of mesh, with a floor that is waterproof. The second wall comes in the form of a rainfly sitting on top of the poles. Single wall tents are water-proof inside but they do lose some breathability. Dome tents weigh less than other tents and offer a good amount of headroom and are simple to pitch. Vestibules (the space around the tent doors, which is protected by the tent's rain fly) are often included for storage of gear for extra, but not all dome tents have them. A-Frame TentThe A-frame tent was very popular because of its simplicity of style. The first A-frame tent was constructed of canvas, with poles made of metal or wooden poles. Modern versions of this tent are light in weight. While this tent is easy to put up and sturdy, it is bulky and cumbersome when packed. It also lacks headroom. Multi-Room TentMulti-room tents are an excellent option for large families. They're more close to a house than conventional tents. This tent has the main benefit of security. But, the many rooms can be used to store equipment and provide enough space for large families. The tent design has couple of drawbacks. It is heavier and requires more time to pitch. Large, multi-room tents backyard camping tents are especially vulnerable to strong winds. Multi-room tents aren't without their flaws but they are the best choice for big family gatherings which require additional space. Backpacking-TentIf a hike that lasts for several days or a long-distance trek to camp from the vehicle is to be expected the backpacking tent is the most suitable choice. In general, backpacking tents are smaller than other choices and weigh less. They're typically smaller than other choices and are lighter in weight. The quality of their materials could be a factor in pricing. Backpacking tents have fewer poles, and they are packed to a tiny size, but their low ceiling and limited capacity makes them ideal for two or three individuals who do not want to stay in established campsites. Geodesic and Semi-Geodesic TentsThe tents offer all the advantages of dome tents but with increased support and stability. The poles of these tents cross many times, intersecting to form triangles and giving the tent plenty of stability. They're better than dome tents at keeping up during severe rain or bad weather however they are more difficult to carry around and are more difficult to pitch. Pop-Up Outdoor TentGenerally newer and referred to as "instant" tents, pop up tents are spring-loaded and are able to be shaped within a matter of seconds. These tents are not suitable for camping in extreme conditions. There are better alternatives. The ease of use is the key perk when it comes to pop up tents. Tunnel TentThese tents are similar to dome tents, but are more long and cylindrical. They are constructed with guy ropes that go through the attachment points on the tent's outside to the ground to ensure stability. These tents have a high space-to-weight ratio as well as the same length pole, so it's not necessary to mix poles. The main issue is that they have to be properly pitched or else they may sag in the middle. Inflatable TentA different design that is more modern These tents are equipped with inflatable poles. The inflatable tent can be set up by only one person, however, it weighs more than other tents and requires an air pump in addition.
